Project Overview

As my final capstone project at MICA, I set out to create a digital product that solved an issue in today’s society. I hypothesized that many Gen Z-aged individuals feel overwhelmed by managing their finances due to a lack of knowledge and guidance. Without clear tools or access to expert advice, they struggle to budget, invest, and plan effectively.

My goal in this project was to create an educational resource that simplifies financial management, empowering users with the knowledge they need for confident, long-term financial planning.

After conducting some preliminary research to validate my initial hypothesis, I discovered several alarming statistics: Only a mere 8% of Gen Z can say they feel confident about their financial situations. Gen Z are also more stressed about their financial situation than millennials were ten years ago. According to the Wall Street Journal, this demographic is accumulating more debt than previous generations, largely due to rising living costs such as rent and food and volality in the job market today.
